Joe Opitz

Aspiring Data Scientist seeking an internship in Artificial Intelligence or Quantitative Finance to leverage skills in programming, machine learning, and data analysis.

About Me

My name is Joe Opitz, and I am a junior on the golf team at Montana Technological University. I am majoring in Data Science with minors in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. My passions for math and problem-solving drew me to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. This passion grew as I completed more Data Science classes and projects, I look forward to using these skills and tools to create innovative impacts on society.

Through golf, I have honed my communication skills, learning to engage effectively with a wide range of individuals. Spending 4-5 hours on the course with diverse players has significantly enhanced my ability to converse and collaborate in various settings. Golf, like life, requires mental toughness and the ability to accept and recover from mistakes. To be a successful college golfer, one needs to have the discipline to work hard no matter how you feel that day. Being a team leader requires connecting with, motivating, and understanding your teammates.

Task Planner Project

Created a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for task management, enabling users to input and organize multiple tasks within a specified time frame. The system prioritizes tasks based on the user’s available time and the deadlines of each task, determining the optimal order for completion. To enhance engagement, a progress bar updates dynamically as tasks are marked complete, gamifying the process and encouraging productivity.
